Chevrolet / GMC Infotainment 3 Caravan Camera Integration

The new Chevrolet & GMC vehicles are very popular tow vehicles that come with an 8″ factory screen, so it makes sense to integrate a caravan camera into that existing screen and avoid mounting additional displays on the dash.

Many of these vehicles also come with a trailer connection at the back of the vehicle, however to use this a special caravan camera must be purchased through HSV and installed. While the functionality of the HSV camera is awesome, changing cameras on your caravan can often be a difficult and expensive process.

We have developed this kit for those who are happy to see their camera image displayed on the factory screen in full and to utilize the existing camera/s they have installed on their caravan.

Q: Is my existing Caravan Camera compatible with this system?
A: The factory screens in these vehicles only work with cameras that have a NTSC video signal format (not Compatible PAL or AHD). If you do have a PAL camera, it is generally possible to change the camera on the back of the caravan and maintain all the existing cables.

Q: Will my Caravan Camera cable connect to your system?
A: Our systems have a Female RCA connection for the caravan camera (see below image #1). Most Caravan Cameras will have a multi-pin plug so an adapter from this connection to a Male RCA is normally required. An example is below in image #2. If you are unsure, please feel free to get in touch with us, send us a picture and we will be able to advise what you will need.

Q: Will I be able to use the trailer connection at the back of the vehicle?
A: Unfortunately not. The camera system in these vehicles communicate digitally, whereas most cameras on the market in Australia communicate via an analogue system. Currently there is no way of converting these analogue signals to the factory digital signal.

Q: How do I activate the system?
A: A simple press of the included mode switch will switch the screen to display the caravan camera. In reverse, a long press of this same switch will activate the caravan camera to automatically show whenever reverse gear is selected. Please watch the video above to see it in action.

Q: Will this give me the transparent view like the factory system?
A: Our system will display the secondary camera image over the entire screen rather than the transparent view. This functionality is part of the complexity of the factory camera and camera system.
